NEWS & EVENTS

Here is where I will update you on the "exciting" lifestyle of an author. I have over ten books to my credit (along with a special one just for my wife). I am currently working on another fictional piece and a photography book.

What I am working on now.

I am collaborating with my golden retriever, Thor, to work on an uplifting fictional book. He has opened my eyes to beauty all around me. While he can't talk, Thor communicates with his eyes, his heart and his enormous tail that has broken more things than I can remember.

A bit about my first book.

My first book, Home Run from Heaven, is probably my favorite. I think I have always wanted to write a book. After spending over 20 years writing sports for various newspapers, I got the chance, and the time, to write it when I moved to St. Louis. It's a Christian Fiction book about a high school freshman baseball player who has to overcome the loss of his father. I based part of the book on losing my own father to cancer. It was a really emotional book for me to write. The young player looks to lead his team to a state championship, while also putting up with a crazy new puppy.

The Christmas books.

I have written three books centered around Christmas: Skyler's Magical Christmas; Skyler's Magical Year; and Saving Santa: Skyler's Magical Christmas. Skyler, a sweet and beautiful girl, is the main character. Rowdy, based on my golden retriever, Thor, and Tasha, based on our own Olde English Bulldogge, Tasha, have the ability to talk to Skyler thanks to Magical Christmas Dog Biscuits. Skyler is based on a sweet, beautiful, athletic, smart and talented softball player I grew to love when I lived in New Bern, N.C.

A story about a swimming star.

My only piece of nonfiction to date, Gold and Glory: The Lauren Perdue Story, is about an incredible swimmer who won a gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics. Lauren Perdue overcame a serious back injury - an injury that threatened her career - to win the gold medal. Her story is inspirational, uplifting and courageous. The book deals with Lauren's injury, her time in London, the time LeBron James asked her to dinner, her strong faith, and much, much more.

Up, up and away.

I'm a big fan of Superman. For some reason, I don't think I will ever be Superman. But I can write about cool superheroes like him. My book, Kid Terrific: Kid Superhero! is about a boy who has to help save the high school's homecoming queen. I based several characters off my own high school classmates. It was a joy to write, and I see at least one more superhero story coming in the near future.
